Yes, I know that the new year has long since passed, but this goes to show you just how fast time flies for me! It seems that the older I get, the faster it goes! This is the beginning of a brand new blog and several projects that were all supposed to have started on 1/1/2014 and, although the projects were begun, as usual I have procrastinated on the blog. So here are my new year's resolutions (business-related) and resulting projects:
1. Start a blog (better late than ever).
2. Stop procrastinating (urrrggggghhhhh....ongoing project).
3. Become more organized (this one is semi-sorta going okay).
4. Start participating in craft shows (beginning with Christmas in July...not sure where yet).
5. Build up my craft show inventory (in progress but that procrastinating thing keeps getting in the way).
6. Sew more for my grandsons (this has actually been going fairly well).
Why I Procrastinate
I am actually a perfectionist, although, if you knew me, you would never guess. Unless I can do something exactly the way I see it in my head, I don't want to do it at all. Also, I hate getting interrupted when I'm on a roll because it causes me to lose focus, so if I know I won't have time to finish a project, I don't really want to start it unless there are pressing issues...like a deadline!. The result of this is that there are piles of unfinished projects all over my tiny little house. So, you can kind of start getting the picture of where the procrastination comes into play!
Also, in addition to Devonchey Creations, I have 2 other businesses...writing (this blog will be an important part of that business), and Accounting To Go, a full-charge mobile bookkeeping service. This means I have MORE projects in addition to my creations and more things to procrastinate. Since my bookkeeping business is the one that brings home the bacon, guess which one gets the most attention. Bookkeeping is also based on many, many deadlines, so it does get PRIORITY #1 STATUS in my life. And, to top everything off, IT'S TAX SEASON!
This brings me to the main purpose of this section of my blog...how am I going to handle my NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS FOR 2014??? Keep reading and let's see how I do!
This is my messy space and why I need organization. It actually got worse than this (many piles of fabric have arrived, stacked up, and have now been put away). I continue to try to find new ways to organize and store my supplies, WIP, and inventory. My kitchen has turned into a sweatshop, by guest bathroom has dresses hanging from the shower curtain rod, and storage containers line my hallway. But...PROGRESS!!! More pictures to come!
